Master's Program in Literature, Criticism, and Rhetoric (Literature)

The Department of Literature is a fundamental pillar of the College of Arabic Language and Literature, as its history dates back to the founding of the first university, when the Arabic Language Department was opened in the year 1385/1386 AH.

Then the literary materials presented in it represented the initial nucleus of an integrated system upon which the Department of Literature was later built when the Department of Arabic Language was transformed into (the College of Arabic Language and Literature) at Umm Al-Qura University.

This department has achieved leadership in literary studies since its beginnings, as it has an elite group of literature professors in the Kingdom and the Arab world. He still plays his pioneering role, as evidenced by his distinguished outputs in the academic sector and in various relevant cultural institutions.

Objectives:

  • Preparing specialized cadres in the fields of Arabic literature with creative artistic and critical abilities.
  • Developing creative abilities and supplementing them with refinement and evaluation.
  • Fulfilling society's need by preparing distinguished researchers who advance the morals of the nation.
  • Employing data from literary studies in studying the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah of the Prophet.
